Quad Round Headlight Conversion

Parts Needed:

  • an MKII Golf or Jetta
  • Grill
  • Optional Grill spoiler (looks cool)
  • Radiator Support
  • Two H4 Bulbs, and Two H1 bulbs or H3 bulbs for Euro (E-Spec) lights.
  • Wiring harness for lights

Usually you can buy a kit for this job, but if you need parts go to your local junkyard and find a GTI. They will have everything including lights, rad support, wires and grill.

The OEM lights are smoked over and not very attractive. I use the FK Crystal Clear lights:

It should be noted that VWs sold in America and Europe used different lights. The American version is DOT, and the European is E-Spec. Hella manufactured all of them. The DOT version 7" outer lights use H4 bulbs, and the inner 5 1/4" lights used H1 bulbs. If you have the E-Spec lights the only differences are your inner lights use H3 instead of H1, and your 7" outer headlights have an additional hole for a city light. That is basically a day time running light for Europe.

In order to mount the outer 7" lights you need a radiator support from a GTI or Golf with round headlights. The radiator support for a single round setup or dual round setup will work because only the outer lights bolt to the radiator support. The inner lights bolt directly to the grill.
